Get more out of the Internet

 

 

Criteria

You have to learn to evaluate any information you find on the Internet and determe the credibility of the information. Ask: What? Who? When? Why? Where?
The following criteria might help you to decide if the information can be trusted:

  • Accuracy: The reliability of the information; can it be verified by other sources.
  • Authority: The source of the information - who published the information; is he/she it reputable.
  • Currency: The timeliness of the information - how recent is the information; is the information updated?
  • Purpose: The possible bias present in the information - why was it published.
  • Relevance: The depth and importance of the information.
