Irene Schoeman with learners attending the BAT campIrene Schoeman

I am a science communicator at Sci-Enza, the science centre at the University of Pretoria where I currently work, and play!

We show learners, students and the public that science is fun and we do our best to demystify seemingly complex scientific issues allowing everybody to understand the world we live in a bit better.

I am a molecular biologist and plant biotechnologist by training and I am fascinated by all living things, flowering, flying, growing, crawling or oozing alike!
I believe we as Homo sapiens (humans) should respect all other living creatures and accept our responsibility and abilities to care for, nurture and understand life on this planet, rather than exploiting it.
