Natural soap -  “Natural” fragrances

BubbleSoap and fragrances play such an important part in our everyday life, and are many times found in the same commercial products. Many people don't know that these two substances have a common chemical factor in them called an "ester". In the soap the ester is a reagent and in the fragrance it is a product.

The learners will be making various soaps from natural plant sources and also "natural" fragrances completely synthesized in a laboratory without the fragrance ever seeing nature. :-)

They will be looking at the various properties of these different soaps and fragrances and how the different properties of each could be combined into one product that might contain all the separate desired properties.
