Plant Production and Soil Science Research Proposals
for Groups B & C (Grades 12 & 11)

1.

Use of tissue culture to grow a food crop (Group B)

Treatments will consist of differing growing media and differing levels of hormones and/or sucrose. Growth and development of the plants will be monitored by non-destructive measurements of root and shoot growth over time. Plantlets will then be transplanted and grown in a nutrient film technique (NFT) hydroponic system.

2.

Use of tissue culture to grow an ornamental plant (Group C)
