"Capturing energy from the sun"

This project aims to introduce learners to the abundant sun energy and its effective use in changing the climate conditions affecting the whole world.

A solar cell is a semiconductor device that converts sun energy into electricity. Two processes are involved in caching energy from the sun: photovoltaics and artificial photosynthesis.

The project is envisaged to teach learners simple methods of catching energy from the sun from simple processes like cooking and water heating to solar cells. Students will be given an opportunity to make a strawberry dye-sensitized solar cell and measure the current that goes through the cell. Finally, students will evaluate the solar cell.

At the end of the project, students will understand the issues related to climate change and mitigating the effects by employing energy from the sun.
