“Murdered Biotech”: Making a case for practical science!

On the morning of Saturday, 23 January 2010, Inspector Gadget (F.A.B.I-UPSPF Liason) was called to the Shaw-lab at the University of Pretoria. Upon entering the lab, he came across the following scene:

“The victim, a Mrs. Lily-Rose Nobelle was found lying next to her lab bench. Blood was found close to the body. Dr. Magriet Evil who found Mrs. Nobelle was interviewed. Several individuals were identified as persons of interest. Mr. Jackie Chen, rumored to be having an affair with Mrs. Nobelle, proved elusive for comment. Prof Agatha Python, found to be competing with the deceased for a fellowship grant, had prior run-in’s in the past. In my investigations I came across another likely suspect, Mr Chipathi O’Hara. He is an Indian Goth…with issues”

The local coroner did a preliminary examination and found a small cranial contusion, although it is unlikely that this was the cause of death, more test need to be done.
The question arises: “What happened to the flourishing young student Mrs. Lily-Rose Nobelle? “

F.A.B.I. is looking to engage the services of brilliant JUNIOR TECH’S to aid in their investigation. You will be using forensic tools such as chromatography, DNA fingerprinting, luminol blood spatter analysis, chemical tests and much more to answer the single scientific question: Whoddunnit? Do you have what it takes to approach the problem scientifically, ask questions, formulate hypothesis, consider the evidence and draw conclusions???
